Pete Klaphake is a third-generation turkey farmer from Melrose. His family owns and operates Klaphake Feed Mill, Inc and R&L Turkeys. They are independent, commercial turkey growers who feed and raise around 30 million pounds of hen turkeys per year.
All of the farms they work with are in and around central Minnesota. They are located in Morrison, Todd, Stearns and Douglas counties. Their office headquarters and feed mill are located just outside of Melrose.
Pete grew up working in and around the barns and with free range birds. He graduated from Melrose High School and from St. John’s University with a degree in Business. Today, Pete is involved with managing day-to-day operations on his family’s farms, working on marketing contracts for the group, helping with some of the HR needs of our company, and any other hats he needs to wear as a small business owner.
Pete has been married to Brenda for 12 years and they have three children: Abby (11), Wyatt (9) and Isaac(6). Pete and Brenda are both active in the Catholic School their children attend. They enjoy spending time doing outdoor activities like camping, hunting, lake time and spending time at their cabin.
Pete also enjoys sports. He currently helps run the youth football program in Melrose and enjoys volunteering to help coach baseball and football programs for his sons.
